The School Council 2010

Eco Action Plans

These are the projects that we are working on this year for Eco Schools. Some of the projects have already been completed (e.g. playground) and some are on-going (e.g. school allotment).

If you would like to help, please get in touch. A small group of parents come along on Thursday afternoons to assist with grounds projects and we are always grateful for another pair of hands!

Community activities with ‘Friends of the Devisdale’ (local park action group) Snowdrop planting – as a ‘Peace’ project.

Year 3 children and parents spending an afternoon working at the park to create a large snowdrop drift.
 To maintain links with this action group. School has been involved with previous activities over the past three years, i.e. tree planting, seeding around pond, making bird boxes. 19 March 2010

All Key Stage 2 pupils have experience of a residential trip and a programme of activities that include map reading, orienteering, country code, nature study (rivers, plants, rocks, etc), environmental impact such as pollution, land use, etc. Annual cycle Year 3 trip

Haiti Earthquake appeal support Fundraising activities for Unicef
Undertake work with Unicef on Children’s Rights
To raise funds and within curriculum work ensure that pupils understand how this natural disaster has an environmental impact. Curriculum work and display on children’s rights and responsibilities. Full year of fundraising activities Headteacher

Keeping Chickens Maintaining the project that commenced in April 2008 School has a flock of 6 chickens that are looked after by the Year 6 pupils – and a team of volunteer families during the holidays.
3 chickens are ex-battery hens.
