The Bollin and the Environment
The Bollin Primary School first became involved with Eco Schools in 1999 and has achieved three ‘Green Flag’ awards since this date. This year the school is aiming to achieve its fourth award and retain the Green Flag status permanently!
The national Eco Schools standards match very closely with the aims that the school also strives to promote regarding the care of our environment. This ‘green’ theme has become an integral part of our school life and the pupils are actively encouraged to promote Eco ideas and action plans that will also involve parents and the wider local community.
The Eco Schools Programme is focused around nine key environmental topics:
- water
- biodiversity
- energy
- global perspectives
- healthy living
- litter
- school grounds
- transport
- waste
