Mrs Marilyn Downs: headteacher
I have been Headteacher at The Bollin Primary School since 1994. Time just seems to fly past when you’re busy and having fun!
I thoroughly enjoy my work and spend a lot of my time involved with the many different aspects of school life.
When not at school, I can be found walking along beaches in Anglesey or skiing down mountains in America – I enjoy outdoor activities and I am passionate about caring for our environment. In quieter moments, I enjoy playing the piano, reading, gardening and cooking meals to share with family and friends.
Mrs
Lisa Bailey: nursery teacher am
I have been a teacher at the Bollin Primary School for eight years, and love teaching in the Foundation Stage. I am an Early Years specialist teacher and before I became a teacher I was a Nursery Nurse. I have worked with children under the age of five for 17 years now, and love all aspects of helping to nurture and encourage young children. I particularly love teaching them to be independent and take that big step of leaving mummy and daddy to start big school!
I now have a daughter who is entering the ‘terrible twos’. My biggest hobby is food and cooking, especially baking. I love to meet up with friends for dinner and a glass of wine or two. I also enjoy travelling - Hong Kong being my favourite destination so far!
Mrs Hannah Johnson: nursery teacher pm
Mrs Johnson is really excited about joining the Bollin staff. She loves working in nursery and giving children a great start to their school lives.
When she is not at school, Mrs Johnson loves chilling out with family and friends, especially if it involves yummy food. She also enjoys exploring new (sunny) countries and relaxing on the beach whilst listening to good music.
Mrs Sue Buchanan: teaching assistant Nursery am
I am a classroom assistant and have worked at the Bollin for almost seven years. I came as an NNEB Student and was very pleased to be offered a position to stay on. I am currently working in the Nursery where my son was one of the first children when the class first opened in 1992. I enjoy reading, music and watching Sale Sharks.
Mrs Nicola Ardern: teaching assistant nursery pm
I retrained and qualified as a Teaching Assistant in 2006 after 24 years working in the Civil Service. I came to the Bollin in September 2009 to work in the Nursery and it has been a really enjoyable time. The Bollin is a happy and very welcoming school and I feel like I have been here forever! In my spare time I like to go on holiday somewhere warm and catch up on my reading.
Mrs Nicola Grimshaw: reception Tatton
I started teaching in 1989 and have had experience with most age ranges in Primary School.
I have really enjoyed my time at The Bollin, working on a part-time basis as a support teacher in Key Stage 2 since January 2008. In my spare time I like to do yoga, go to the theatre and cinema and eat out, plus acting as a taxi driver for my three children!
Mrs Jo Walton: reception Dunham
I arrived at the Bollin last Easter to look after Tatton Reception whilst Mrs Odell went on her maternity leave. I enjoyed myself so much I was delighted in September to become a permanent member of the team transferring to Dunham Reception Class.
I love working in the Foundation Stage as the children begin their journey through school. I look forward to each new day at the Bollin; the children’s enthusiasm and gusto for all aspects of school life is incredibly infectious and I come into school with a big smile anticipating the day ahead.
When I’m not in school I enjoy spending time with my family – my two girls keep me busy and we all love to disappear at the weekends down to our caravan in Anglesey, walking on the beach, chilling on a deckchair with my nose buried in a book or cooking on the barbecue. I also enjoy ice skating, riding my bike and going to the cinema – so long as I have a box of popcorn I don’t mind which film I see!
Mrs. Maureen Kirk: teaching assistant reception
I am a very flexible Teaching Assistant currently working in Nursery and Year 1. I have worked at the Bollin for over 10 years and I really enjoy my job and I am always busy. I love the variety each day brings. Along with family life I enjoy travelling and the open space when walking in the countryside and along our coastline. When at home I enjoy time in the garden and being creative.
Miss Daniele Jones – teaching assistant reception
I have been a Teaching Assistant for about nine years now. My previous experience was working with children in KS2, mainly years 4 and 5.
I joined the Bollin team in February 2009 working with children in KS1 and I am currently working in the Foundation Stage.
I have two boys who attended the Bollin and who keep me very busy outside work.
Apart from chauffeuring my very active boys around to their various sporting venues and standing in all weathers on the side lines watching them play, I enjoy running, keeping fit and reading. A new hobby I am attempting, so far unsuccessfully, is Zumba!
Miss Sam Kirk: year 1 Tatton
Miss Kirk teaches Year 1 Tatton. She is keen to help the school to promote its Creative Curriculum. She is very enthusiastic and enjoys the rewarding job of working with children specialising in Early Years. In her spare time Miss Kirk likes to relax with friends and family, keep fit attending the gym and visit new places.
Mr Nick Liddell: year 1 Dunham
Now then.....no longer the 'new recruit, Mr Liddell has been at the Bollin since 2008 and is proud to be the Year 1 Dunham class teacher. I really enjoy teaching in the early years. I particularly gain great satisfaction of teaching young children then seeing how they become increasingly independent whilst watching their life skills develop. This is just one of the wonders of teaching. I am very passionate about developing team sports, healthy eating and healthy minds! I run the school Football Team (League Champions 2009 and 2010) and Cricket Team (Kwik Cricket Champions 2010) but take the great pleasure in all the development and success the children make.
Outside of school I love to spend time with my family but still like to sleep!! Having hung up the football boots I still enjoy playing cricket. I am Head Coach at Timperley CC and oversee the development of nearly 100 children. I think I still possess that 'essential' sense of humour and enjoyment of life, whilst working with a great team...!

Miss Hayley Marshall: year 2 Dunham
I have been at The Bollin School since 2008
and it’s lovely to be part of ‘The Team’; I’m really excited to be the class teacher in 2 Dunham. I love teaching all aspects of the curriculum and am particularly keen to keep all children fit, active and healthy and ensure they reap the benefits of regular PE and School Sport.
When I’m not at school I’m usually very busy with my two boys who are both at secondary school. I love spending time on a beach, cycling along the canals and walking in the hills with my dog; especially when the sun is shining.
Mrs
Vicki Watson: year 2 Tatton
Mrs Watson came back to teaching after 20 years in the commercial world and thinks it’s the best decision she ever made.
She has been at The Bollin for 7 years and says the children give her a fresh perspective on life every day.
Known for her love of cats, Mrs Watson is also a keen golfer, an avid football fan and enjoys spending time with her
family in Europe during the holidays.
Mrs Jane Runnett: teaching assistant Key Stage 1
I’ve worked at the Bollin for around
8 years starting with Bollin Extend, working in the breakfast and after school club and then I started working within the school as a classroom assistant. In my spare time I enjoy walking in the Lake District and I am looking forward to retiring there when I win the Lottery!
Mrs Julie Dean: teaching assistant Key Stage 1

A several years down the line I find myself still here and loving every minute of it - well nearly! I run the cookery club after school along with Mrs Runnett. I have been on a residential trip with years 3 and 4 and would very much like to repeat the experience. In my spare time I like to read, do cross-stitch and crochet.

Mr Gifford has travelled a long way to be part of the Bollin. Originally from New Zealand, he is now well and truly settled here with his wife and two children. He loves teaching and he has a particular interest in Numeracy. Mr Gifford takes every opportunity to get into the outdoors and his garden. He usually has a smile on his face…just don’t mention the last Rugby World Cup!
Mrs Emma Francis: year 4
After working with children for over thirteen years as a Nanny and Nursery Nurse I decided to follow my dreams of becoming a primary school teacher!
I enjoy watching how children progress throughout their school year and watching how responsible and independent they become.
I was placed at The Bollin in my final university placement and really enjoyed working here. I helped out during the 40th celebrations and I also joined the Year 4s at Stanley Head for two nights.
In my spare time I am a bit of a bookworm, I will read anything and everything! For the past three years I have studied Spanish at night school and I can also speak a little German and French.
I love going on city breaks away and once got stranded in Prague during a snow storm. I am also a keen camper. When the weather is right I like to spend time in Wales under canvas with a good book, a barbeque and my walking boots. At weekends I enjoy going for long walks or meeting up with friends (especially if there is a karaoke or Wii console available)!
Mrs Jac Bevan: year 5
Hi, I am Mrs Jacqui Bevan. I currently teach Year 5. At school I enjoy watching children succeed and enjoy learning.

Out of school I enjoy keeping fit and regularly attend the gym as well as enjoying walks in the countryside.
Miss Jenni Anderton: year 6
I really enjoy working at the Bollin. I love seeing the children getting stuck into an interesting project, and no two days are ever the same. I am also the school’s SENCO and I’m currently studying for my Masters Degree in Special Educational Needs.
I enjoy rock climbing outdoors and cycling when the weather is good. I try to get away in my campervan, George as often as I can but finding someone to look after my cats, chickens and water my veggie plot can be tricky!
Being outside is great but I’m a creature-comforts person at heart and I love treating myself to pamper sessions and spa retreats!
Mrs Linda Warbrick: teaching assistant Key Stage 2

Mrs Steph Cosgrove: class support teacher
I have worked at The Bollin Primary School as a part time support teacher for over six years now and I have the opportunity to work with all the children at school, which I find very rewarding. I particularly enjoy teaching gymnastics and creative arts such as design technology – and I am responsible for many of the displays of children’s work that you see around the school building! I enjoy making our school an attractive and colourful learning environment and, as a teacher governor, contributing to the wider aspects of developing our school community.
Mrs Olivia Robinson: class support teacher
I have been a teacher for nearly 20 years working in the South, the Midlands and the North West. Having been at the chalk face for much of that time in upper juniors I moved into music specialism about 5 years ago. I teach at the Bollin and another local Primary School and work with all the children from Nursery through to Year 6 which is great fun! I have been at the Bollin for almost 9 years and have been involved with many wonderful performances and taught many fantastic children. My youngest child is in Year 5 and I have always felt delighted and lucky that he has had the chance to experience all the wonderful opportunites this school has to offer.
Miss
Isabel Brown: class support teacher
After many years as a full-time Foundation and Key Stage One teacher at the Bollin I now work part-time after the birth of my daughter. She certainly keeps my husband and I very busy! I still try to enjoy walking, reading, and singing in a local choir when time allows!
I love bringing music into the classroom – it’s a great way for children to learn and have fun. I am a great animal lover and spoil my cat rotten! I think environmental issues are very important and encourage all children to do their bit, such as turning a tap off, no matter how small the action may seem.
Mrs Karen Weightman: learning support manager
I started work at The Bollin in May 1994 and can honestly say that I have enjoyed every minute of my time here.
