Pupil Parliament

Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNRC) says that children and young people should have a say in decisions that affect their lives.

This year, we are excited to launch the Bollin Pupil Parliament, a brand-new opportunity for pupils to have a genuine voice in shaping the future of our school. Built around the belief that every voice matters, the Pupil Parliament will empower children to represent their peers, share ideas, solve problems and help drive positive change across our school community. 

Through a democratic voting process, pupils will have the opportunity to stand for election and vote for representatives who they feel will best represent their class. This exciting initiative helps children develop leadership skills, responsibility, confidence and an understanding of the British Value of democracy, whilst ensuring that pupil voice remains at the heart of school improvement. 

The Parliament will be made up of four key departments: Education & Equality, Environment, Health & Wellbeing, and Digital Culture. Each department will work on projects and initiatives that help improve school life, celebrate diversity, support wellbeing, protect our environment and enhance digital learning opportunities for all. 

We look forward to seeing our pupils campaign, vote and work together as responsible citizens. By listening to one another and embracing new ideas, our young representatives will help us continue growing hearts and minds together and making Bollin Primary an even better place to belong, achieve and thrive.
